Most of them will be happy to help you because a westerner is very rare in Indonesia so every attention will be on you especially when they see you being lost. But remember, don’t to much depend on them, the locals often using the foreigner vulnerability to steal their wallet, so be careful still friendly.
If you got robbed or something, just ask someone to brought you to police office. Or If you encounter with the robber, do not try to fight them just ask them to give your important documents and let you go. All they need is cash, so don’t be stubborn to keep your money over your safety.
